Introduction

United Kingdoms was originally formed in November 2001 when the Antonius Bayle server on EverQuest 1 was opened. The guild was formed for the purposes of enabling like-minded people to be able to group/raid together and have fun. In the years that followed, the guild progressed on to Everquest 2 and spent several years as the premier non-hardcore guild on the Splitpaw server, providing both social activities and access to end-game raid content for its members. Now, as the UK family has continued to grow, we’ve expanded the community to include several guilds under the UK name playing a variety of different games. All with their own individual officer teams and their own sets of rules and procedures, but all bound by the same basic ideals and principles. This is our community charter

Community Ethos

Our community has always held friendship and good sportsmanship as its primary basis for existence, and thrives on unselfish, humorous and helpful interaction amongst its members.  This “play nice, play fair” approach is by far the most important aspect of being a UK member.  By cultivating an environment in which people are encouraged to focus on fun and teamwork, UK aims to get the most out of games for all its members at all levels.

At the core of UK is a very solid player base of extremely good players with a very positive approach to their gameplay.  It is the quality and outlook of each of our many members that makes UK an excellent community to be a part of and a typical UK member will always wear their guild tag with pride.

Recruitment

Each UK guild has its own recruitment policies and procedures;  however there is a general agreement that an existing member of the UK community will automatically be accepted for trial with any other UK guild.  The member will still need to pass any probation or trial period as laid out by that particular guild and there is no guarantee of acceptance or what level of membership will be available to new applicants.  For information on recruitment for a specific game, please see the appropriate game’s recruitment pages.

Code of Conduct

United Kingdoms is a long-standing, proud and respected guild and community.  You should always uphold its good name and that of its members, including yourself.

The following code of conduct should be strictly followed:

  • Adhere to all rules laid down in this charter.
  • Play within the EULA (End User Licence Agreement) of all games.  UK is an honest community that cares about its reputation and integrity and does not endorse cheating.  Any players who deliberately and habitually use exploits or bots will be subject to disciplinary procedures.
  • Treat all players in game, whether in UK or not, in a manner you would expect to be treated yourself.  You are an ambassador for your guild and community – your behaviour may affect other people’s perceptions of our community.  Do not conduct yourself in a way that would negatively reflect on UK.  Please bear this in mind when grouped or otherwise interacting with others.  Any complaints about our members will be taken seriously and investigated.
  • If a guild member requires help and you are not busy, please consider whether you are in a position to assist them and help if you can – this was after all one of the founding principles of UK.
  • Conversely, if you require help, do not expect people that are busy to drop their current activity to help you.  Do not repeatedly pester players directly into helping you.  Ask politely and if they say no, respect their decision without trying to pressure them unduly.  If you receive no offers for help in game then try again later or try organising the help you need using the guild forums.
  • We do not tolerate any kind of excessive or habitual drama in this community.  Drama includes (but is certainly not limited to):  whining, attention-seeking, temper tantrums, annoying spam, begging, sulking, hate tells.  There is a zero-tolerance attitude within the UK community to these sorts of behaviours.
  • Do not use public chat channels or forums as a means to make complaints about any fellow guild or community member.  Contact an officer privately instead and they will deal with any issue or problem you may have.  Publicly calling out or otherwise highlighting issues never solves anything and in most cases just makes them worse.  As such, this behaviour is considered “drama” and the zero-tolerance approach applies.

UK websites, Forum and Voice Chat

The UK websites and forum are available to use by all UK community members.  Each guild within the community team has their own section of the forum and their own website as part of a network of UK sites.
There are also Voice Chat servers available which can be used by community members to coordinate grouping and raiding.  Information on how to access these is available to guild members on the forum.
